If landlord loses can they get out of paying

if you take your landlord to court for racial discrimination and win, whatever the gain maybe, monetary or property can they file banckruptcy in order not to pay you. or exactly what do one sue for in a discrimination case

  1. It's possible.  Some types of court judgments they can get out of, others they can't.  I think they might be able to since it's not a case where medical bills or other permanent, lasting damage was done.  I THINK that was the way it was described to me.


  2. It sounds like you haven't yet sued here...

    This is a Fair Housing Issue, which is handled by HUD. You must first file a complaint through them, they will handle the investigation, and tack on fines and damages and all of that if your complaint is deemed valid. It will go through court as any lawsuit will, but with HUD on your side, you won't need to worry as much about legal fees and all that. Learn more here...

  3. In the USA there are federal laws governing discrimination, in addition to your state and local laws.

    I would highly recommend you hire a lawyer practiced in winning discrimination suits, if you intend to pursue your case.
