I am tenant at will, one year plus. My home demolished, living in what is to be an office to the new business. I have to move in two weeks. I have been living here about a month, does the landlord have to move me? Should I pay rent for living in what is to be the new business' office, which the entire land surrounding this property is under construction.

  1. Depends on how much he wants to pay for a supersmart lawyer.

  2. Has the landlord given you 30 days notice?  I assume since you have been in this temporary location for a month and a half, that he has.

The best thing to do when a landlord gives you 30 days notice, is to look for a new place to rent!

What are the circumstances regarding the destruction of your home (landlord's building)?

  3. What are you doing in an office?

No, it was HIS home that was demolished, not yours.   You have no claim to his property.

You need to rent somewhere else.

You are entitled to your rental deposit, in full.

  4. He only has to give you a 30 day notice.

  5. NOPE

that's the whole thing about being tenant at will, no written lease and few protections or rights for tenant
