Question:

If lava melts rock, wouldn’t the lava melt the volcano

  1. because a volcano starts as a hole in the ground that shot up lava from the earths mantle, as the lava dry's it forms a little wall around the hole. Over years the hole keeps shooting up more and lava which then dry's along the wall forming the volcano shape.

    the volcano does not melt because it is made from old lava which forms a super hard rock when it dry's so it is able to withstand lava.
