  1. How are they fighting for MY way of life?  Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11.  Nothing.

There are many reasons I wouldn't join the military.  But one of the reasons is I WOULD NEVER KILL FOR OIL.  Never.

Hey "R" (above me):  I LOVE what you said.

  2. You can't began to know what the military is made of.  Why are you here mr. self rightous.  I am a liberal and i thank god I do care about my fellow man. I and my husband served in nam.  How about you and your parents,  I have 2 sons one went to derest storm and the other is now in Iraq both liberal i am proud to say.  I have a nephew who did a second tour in Mosol, Iraq how about you.  Mr. computer fighting man.  My whole family has done more than most and I know tons of liberals who have also and we want our families home and not fighting and insane war for the oil men.  Get a grip you are a real live t**d.

  3. Wouldn't work, first taste of combat they would pee their pants so bad it would cause another "great flood"

  4. They have contempt for the military, just like their champion Slick Willy who crippled and debiliated it.

They believe in standing around holding hands, lighting candles and singing. Also making sure that "all Muslims aren't blamed" while people are burning alive or getting their heads cut off.

  5. I have never put down the military, nor condemned them for their actions.

"All is fair in love and war"

But as far as joining the military to change America, that's impossible.

You see the military is controlled by the government, by joining you give up certain rights,(like your voice as Pat Tillman put it to his brother as they were deciding to join).

You can help the war effort by joining, yes, but you cannot change policy because you must follow orders.

In order to change something, you must be able to act on your own against the normal everyday routine, thus change. And going against the plan in the military is not only disobeying a direct order, but will probably also prove to be dangerous.

  6. Liberals do join the military, in the tens of thousands.

However, the military is not well suited to their mindset, because liberals value diversity, and freedom of expression, rather than conformity and strict adherence to tradition. Those values are necessary to the proper functioning of the military, but they are more suited to the conservative mindset.

That's why liberals tend to go into teaching, because that is a field where freedom of thought and diversity are encouraged, rather than denigrated. One is not better than the other. They are both forms of service. Each just goes into the fields that match their personal philosophy, which is as it should be.

There are other ways to affect change without using force.

And the day the military becomes an institution whose purpose is to affect social policy change is the day we've cross the line into a military dictatorship. The military should be responsible for carrying out policy, not defining it. As anyone who has served in the military could tell you.

  7. I prefer to affect change through policy and other actions.  The military is wherein one follows orders and there is little opportunity to affect change.  I'd rather stop the belief that military is the only effective means of foreign policy.

  8. You are using the word "liberals" incorrectly. But I'll try to play along. A couple of"liberals" I know did serve in the military. One in the Army, another in USAF JAG. In fact, the JAG guy is still a Major in the Reserves and also holds civilian elected office. Don't know about the "fighting for our way of life" part of your question, but the members of our military follow orders and make sacrifices. I had 2 career military people tell me in personal conversation how frustrated and unhappy they were with Rumsfeld back when he was Defense Sec'y. These were career military people and not "liberals" by your definition. One had been deployed to Iraq one time. Senior NCO. I'm a registered independent voter (former registered Republican) with two immediate family member veterans, and at least four extended family military veterans. All but one of those six saw combat. Were the American Revolutionary soldiers good military men? They were, as a group, "liberals". Were the Union soldiers in the Civil War good military men? They were as a group "liberals". Was FDR a good wartime President? He was pretty much a "liberal" politically.

  9. Because they want to be given everything and left alone.  Pssstt.... move to France but do it quickly Sarkozy is going to change the society of slackers.

  10. I didn't know the military took a poll of every members political party.

  11. What?  How can liberals joining the military change America?  Besides that, on the whole, liberals don't typically do, they whine.

  12. My only response is that in 14 yrs of military service I seldom met a liberal in uniform and that includes minorities who apparently vote dem more often than not but not among service members.

  13. Ive served also but how is joining the service change

do the generals that retire and then say we need changes instead of doing it when they had the chance bout a year ago oreily had allot of generals saying change was needed but they didn't do it when they had the chance, and that is a shame no one should listen to them cause they were at the plate but whiffed when there chance came

  14. Are only conservatives in your military? How is such selection made? I know your country not allow g**s ( and do not understand) but why make your military so political ?
