Question:

If light creates images does this mean...?

that objects moving at a very far distance have a slight delay to them? since light travels, and is not instant does that mean we're not seeing the distant objects exact location?

  1. Absolutely. When you look up into the night sky, your looking back in time to various degrees.

    The nearest star is Alpha Proxima at 4.22 light years away. So when you look at it, the photons you see left it 4.22 years ago. Some easily visable stars are hundreds of light years away and you are seeing them where they were hundreds of years ago.

    Of coarse, in the grand scheme of things, evev though they are moving, they are mostly all moving in roughly the same general direction. So what you see now is pretty much like what your ancestors saw going back to the earliest recorded history.  Possibly much much further.
