  1. How can you not know the lady in the box and sword trick?? I thought everyone knew that one! There's two different women in each box. They're both scrunched up so that one has only her head sticking out and the other only has her feet. It's not just one woman.

And with most levitation, there IS some sort of glass or mirror holding the person up. Although I have heard of deep meditation where a person can lift themselves up by simply thinking about it.

  2. Take a class

  3. If you find out you'll be disappointed, better not to know.

  4. They had the show Breaking the Magician's Code on TV a few years back.  I hated the show.  Yeah, it was cool knowing how it all worked but it killed the magic for me.  They showed every kind of magic there (there were 2 episodes, maybe more) like the levitation (crane behind the curtain, and yes, there's a way to run the rings around the table to make it look like you went through the crane!), sword through the lady in the box (very careful placement of the pretty assistant), even the disappearing tiger.  You can do a google search on Breaking the Magician's Code and see if you can get a video version of it.

Or you can go to Barnes and Noble and get the Street Magic: Great Tricks Revealed or just google Magic Revealed and you'll find all those books there too... some free maybe.

  5. I don't know

  6. There are guilds and professional societies that are open to professional performing magicians at various levels (by which I mean regional, state and national organizations); and certainly there are publications that are available only to members in good standing of such organizations. Add to that the teacher/student relationship, and these ensure that the "tricks of the trade" get passed down.

  7. Actually, magicians do tell their secrets, as least some of them; but only to other magicians or their apprentices.  The most common magic tricks you can learn from books, maybe even the internet.  Some of the more spectacular only become known when the performer of said feat dies or retires and their 'book of secrets' becomes known.

If you decide to go into magic as a career, then your teacher will show you these illusions and tricks.  It is not for the general public to know, however.

  8. A magician never reveals their secrets!  You will need to join the magic circle!

Or apply to be a magician's assistant. You would learn loads of tricks and probably take parts in loads of illusions and be sawn in half, sliced into 3 pieces etc

  9. i can show you how they saw a lady in half... if you'll assist me :)

  10. they learn the tricks because they are of the same mind. They see a trick and instantly have a good idea on how it was done. This ability is either natural or just comes with years of research and practice.  Like the above poster said, you really shouldnt learn how those tricks are done, it takes out all of the amazement

  11. They do pass on their illusions to family members or those interested in becoming magicians.  You just have to pursue and assure your magic friend you can handle the truth.   There are schools of magic as well as textbooks available to those just as fascinated by the creative aspects of illusion as they are by the brief possibility of a miracle.  Stage magic has indeed taught me the difference between faith and fact and granted me the bonus of being able to deal with the coexistence of science and religion.  If you can love both your right and left hands, by all means explore.  Levitation and sword through box or basket quite simple when you know how and beloved when you demonstrate  the illusions and discover that maybe one out of 25 will also explore the realm.

  12. it a general rule that they dont tell there secerts but like any rule they have people that break it like the masked magician he gave out alot of them
