  1. Chuckle, I gave traveler a thumbs up because that is about the most ignorant & ill informed answer I've ever heard... I assume it was in jest.

Monkeys evolved from the prosimians & apes evolved from monkeys.  Hominids were in truth a bipedal ape that evolved from one of the many types of apes that existed about 5 million yrs ago.  In the beginning the brain of the hominid was no larger than that of the other apes, but the ability to walk upright gave it several advantages over other apes.  First they had a better view of the landscape & could see over obstacles to spot predators & second it freed up their hands to carry food back to the safety of trees & to their young. Eventually some of these hominids (several different types existed) began to scavenge meat from the kills of predators & later use rocks to break open bones to reach the marrow.

The extra high quality protien allowed accellerated brain development.

About 2 million yrs ago one group of hominids discovered how to use fire (the debate is if it was homo hablis or homo erectus).  It is also suspected that at about this time homo erectus discovered they too could become predators & began to hunt & kill small animals. I could continue, but to answer your question, many species of apes & hominids became extinct & others evolved.  In fact 99.9% of all species that existed on earth are now extinct.

Strangely the chimpanzee, our closest relative on Earth, has evolved more from his ancestors than homo sapien has from his.  The human chromosome #2 (two fused chromosomes)is almost an exact copy of two chimp chromosomes. Evolution takes different paths to produce differing survival characteristics in different species & some survive where others become extinct.

  2. Actually some humans devolved into apes and monkeys.

Look around you, take away the fancy clothes, the vehicles,

the houses, and soon you will have very hungry,  naked, hairy humans running around looking for food.  Take away the cell phones, computers, and all communication devices.  Take away the food delivery trucks completely.  No more beer or filet mignon, no more farms.  Take away the water supply.

Soon after that you will see them hunched over, searching the ground for anything to eat. Their arms will get longer so that they don't have to lean over to reach so far. Their hairy bodies get more hair to keep warm.

Soon they are looking up into the trees and discover nuts, apples and other fruits.  They climb up there, and their long arms get longer reaching for the food and hanging around.

They screech a lot when someone steals their apple, peach or nuts.

Next, they have hairy babies. They do the same, except they know how to hang onto the back of hairy mommies when they swing through the trees looking for food. If they don't hang on they will fall off, and someone will pick them up and eat them.

voila..., try it and see humans, keep destroying the planet and that is what you WILL have:------------devolution.

  3. You have the theory wrong.  Humans did not evolve from apes.  The theory states that apes & humans have a common ancestor.

  4. Simple answer.  Man did NOT evolve from apes.  Recent discoveries in science prove that evolution is just not possible.  Cells with irreducible parts can not evolve and therefore could not have been part of evolution.  Science is way too complex to have just happened by chance.  There had to be creator to make any sense of our universe and its complexities.

  5. A couple of families of apes got lost.  They lived in a different place than all the other apes.  The place they lived was very dangerous and only the smart ones survived.  The smarter they became, the more survived.  Meanwhile, all the other apes were having fun not needing to get smart and never did get smart.

  6. Human evolved from an ape-like ancestor, we just branched off, Humans, aren't the only branch either, you also had Neanderthals, and the more recently discovered, Homo floresiensis. Apes, too have evolved, but at a different rate. Evolution has no clear goal.

  7. Because they don't compete with us for caves and game animals.

  8. Evolution is not linear, nor does it have a goal.  There are monkeys and apes because they survive and reproduce well in their particular niches.  Man and ape share a common ancestor a few million years back.

It is not as though every member of a species evolves directly into another.  Study up on evolution a bit.
