not just the modern day monkeys. So when you hear that we evolved from monkeys, they mean ancient species that are now extinct, not modern day monkeys. In other words, they are evolving.

Monkeys are a branch of the primate species and modern monkeys are very different to the root simian we both branched from circa 2 million years ago.

Interestingly- the Discovery Institute has yet to hand in one thesis or study proposal to an established university for the serious and scholarly examination of Intelligent Design.

1. Evolution speed depends on how fast a species reproduces itself. Bacteria evolve much faster, as there is new generation every several hours or days. One human generation takes some 20 years, so changes in our own species are slow to appear.

There are genetic similarities between humans and monkeys: 99.99% of similarities. Enough to prove we are descendants from the same family. Also, there are enough fossils to have an idea when that common ancestor existed, and what steps we as a humans have been through until we reached our actual self.

Man is still evolving but some day he will reach his maximum and then.. Every year hundreds of species die out. Every year some new ones are discovered. Some are new created:

fire-ants have mated with native species in North America and produced a new species of ant. You can check this for yourself.

Everything about "evolution" is just a bunch of bull.  If you are a smart person, then you will see that.  God made the earth and everything in it.  Creatures may have changed a tiny bit over thousands of years, and some species have gone extinct.  But we HAVE NOT evolved from monkeys.  Use your common sense!!!

If you're really questioning all of this, and you're really interested, then I suggest you watch the movie  "Expelled".  It was just in the theators a couple of months ago, so It might not be on DVD yet.  But when it does come out, I'm challenging you to watch it.  It will really help you understand how impossible the whole thing really is.  And also what happens to people who don't believe in it.  It's a really outstanding film.  Please watch it.

The theory suggests  that

1. "monkeys" (as you say) and humans evolved from the a common ansestor. This means we came from one line of species and then we split. As a result we now have seperate species.

2. Also evolution is a very slow process. By no means will we be able to watch a monkey physically evolve.

there are much more interesting reasons why this theory is complete bullcrap. I recommend the study of genetics.

They might be currently evolving. As we all know, evolving takes a very long period of time before a considerable amount of change happens to consider it an evolution. Maybe monkeys weren't able to evolve as fast as we were able to that is why they are still the monkeys that we know of.
