If man evolved out of the ape, why do we still have apes?

  1. Because we shared a common ancestor, we didn't come from them.  We evolved into humans, they evolved into apes.  A chimp or a gorilla is an evolution, just as we are... we're just different evolutions.

    I don't understand why it's so tough for people to get this.

  3. As the person above me said, we developed from apes, apes developed from animal x, animal x developed from lizard b, lizard be developed from fish etc. We still have lizards and fish don't we? They dont change, just a few from that species "decide" somehow to advance, or change to circumstances. Sure it can take a long time, but it happens. We still have apes because they still play a vital role in the ecosystem.
