If married to European Citizen, can one work in any European country?

I am Spanish, and so my husband can get a residence card for Spain, but what about other countries of the European Union? Can he work in other countries?

  1. He can only work in other countries, if you find the job in the required country first & move there. Then you will have to send him sponsorship & he will move to live in that country as your spouse. Only after that he can work in that country.

    Only EU citizens can work in any country where they want, they non-EU spouses can only work in the country where they are allowed the residency.

    Your husband is not free to work anywhere, he can only work where he will have the resident card.


  2. No, he is only a resident in Spain, not a citizen so he can only work in Spain, not in other EU countries.

    You will have to check the rules with immigration not Yahoo answers for the exact answer.

    You might be able to work in more of the countries after a set period of time like 2 to 5 years of working in Spain.

    Countries do this to make sure they immigrate people that can pull their weight & get a job rather then just anyone.

    Unless he has a skill they want then they may take him straight away.
