So if women spend more time with other women, are they over-feminised? Or not?

And what about people living in a masculine world, are they masculinised? And is that a good or a bad thing, and why? :-)

  1. What feminine world? The world is masculine - despite that fact women express their femininity in the way they see fit as individuals even when it is dictated to us by influences such as the media.

Describe in what ways the world is feminine? From wars to sports, from films to newspapers, the concerns are still predominantly male.  Not saying things would be any better or egalitarian...lol if women were at the top, but lets not kid ourselves they are now!

  2. i dont belive that men are "feminized" and live in a "feminized" world b/c everything except maybe modeling is dominated by men still. but good question, this concept makes no sense anyway! play with it & have fun!

  3. I think we all tend to develop mannerisms of those around us if we spend enough time with them.  It's not always a bad or good thing.

  4. You've got a point there.

However, I think the point people make when they say that is that men aren't really allowed to be "masculine" as much.  Traditionally masculine qualities like aggressiveness are being seen as bad and undesirable in men.  In contrast, they're being encouraged in women.  I believe that's how the argument goes.

  5. no. Feminism wants to feminize men and masculinize women. Feminine qualities are looked down upon when women show them but feminist want men to be women.

  6. Since women were not masculinized by living in a masculine world for thousands of years, it is ridiculous to think that men can be feminized.  They can be humanized, and that is a good thing.  Some men need to be more human, and less animal.

  7. because women are already mad enough by themselves

  8. I'm of a similiar opinion as that of  LBSDM.

I have a problem with people thinking that feminine means submissive, dainty, and delicate.  Who decided that and when?

To answer your question I don't think that women can be any more feminized than they are unless they deliberately set out to be.  It's the same for men.  If you surround yourself with people who go over-board to either extreme in trying to exhibit characteristic "macho", or "damsel- like" behavior quite naturally you will find yourself trying to emulate those people.  If you don't wish to emulate it you will more than likely remove those people from your concentric circle or remove yourself from the environment.  Either way there's no danger  of becoming what you've chosen to reject.

  9. You're a feminist. Why do you even care about gender roles and their influence on society? You are for a unisex society, unless of course you are a bandwagon feminist.

No. I it isn't possible to be over-feminine. When men become more feminine, women take the masculine role. Around other women, women return to being feminine, unless there is conflict.

The masculine world was the traditional world. I support tradition because it was stable. It also wasn't Marxist or atheistic. This of course doesn't mean I believe all women should be in the house or get married.

    I support tradition as follows:

    1) Marriage lasts forever (unless there is documented abuse (abuse in the traditional sense, not the new age defintion) and or chronic adultery that can be proven).

    2) Women caring for their children until they are at least five years old if fiscally possible (planned pregnancy. Each partner works until they have enough money saved up. The government could help by giving tax breaks to married women that sacrifice career for child or children during the child's infant years, and educational and work agency to help mothers return to the workplace once their children enter into kindergarten.).

    3) The last makes me a hypocrite, but abstinence until marriage (one of the highest forms of self discipline). Currently we are a society commitng cultural suicide. Most people have s*x as an outlet for stress or because of a hypersexual condition that is one of the symptoms of a mental illness, not because of love.
