If mistake were made and meter interchanged in measuring the current and voltage of lamp what will happen?

  1. You would short circuit through the ammeter

    OTOH, you would produce an open circuit with the voltmeter.

    So, if the voltmeter were mistakenly place in series with the circuit ahead of the mistakenly placed ammeter, then it would read a voltage and the circuit would not work, but nothing else bad would happen.

    But if the ammeter is mistakenly placed in parallel with the circuit ahead of the mistakenly placed voltmeter, then all available supply current will pass through the ammeter, most likely destroying it.
