If money can't buy happiness, why do we chase money?

Becuz we do need money to survive. Like i think that humans can nevr be satisfied with wat they hav. A homeless person wants a house, a normal person wants to be rich, and a rich person wants to be #1. money is sumthing not every1 has but still needs. it cant buy haappiness but i guess it...idk. every1 needs it but sometimes i think ppl mite confus e it with happiness

Society drives consumerism, likening the newest car or the nicest tv with happiness.  It's sad.  People racking up thousands of dollars in credit card debt to try to fill their lives with Stuff.  

The secret to happiness is to be happy with what you have.

The only thing money is good for is to provide a small sense of security for when you retire and have to live on a fixed income.

Because without money we would starve to death and die. Everyone has to make a living, whether its a good happy one or not.

Because money does buy happiness.  That old adage is BS used to placate the have nots.  If you don't think so, give away all your money and assets and see how happy you are when you're destitute.  In my experience, impoverished people are generally unhappy and frustrated with their lives.

No, I agree, money can't buy happiness but it can buy the environment that happiness thrives in  and it can remove a lot of the blocks and stresses to happiness.  Being rich won't make you happy, but poor will not make you happy either.  Money is a necessary part of life.  Just got to deal with that.

I agree chasing money hoping it is the answer is wrong.  Having it is certainly very desirable though.  Who's to say anyway?  Happiness is different for all, there's no wrong or right here i don't think, it's an individual thing.  If you don't want it don't chase it, simple.  Let others do as they please, it their life.

money doesnt bring happiness, money brings us pride, which lowers us a human beings.

Because while it cannot buy  happiness, it is also nevertheless quite hard to be happy without it.  Money doesn't produce happiness but being happy is much more challenging without it.
