could I use speakers with a recommended amplified power range between 10 and 80 watts per channel with my receiver?

  2. You can but it is dangerous if you ever drive the amp to high, I would recommend that you look at a speaker that has a higher rating than the amp, but just remember it not only is power but distortion that kills speakers.

    The reason for ratings is to closely match. I wager that the speakers you have may not be the best for this application.

  3. absolutely,having extra power in reserve is the best scenario.it will cause less distortion and less heat, just don't over drive the amp, most people think You need higher rated speakers. when in reality you need reserve power! for example if you have speakers rated 100 watts cont, at 8 ohms its best to have at least 100-200watts per channel and 1.5db headroom, that is because when playing music the impedance fluctuates greatly it can dip as low as 2ohms&as high as 16 or higher at certain frequencies! look up ohms law as a reference when buying audio equip! in short yes just dont overdrive the amp or speakers, since you did not mention the nominal impedance!!! rock on!!!! bigG,,,
