If my Caravan weighs 14,350kg Elddis Typhoon unladen

is my Mondeo 2 DCTI capable of towing this weight? I know I would have to take into account of laden weight as well...2 adults awning etc.

  1. The braked towing weight for your car is 1800kg, so towing shouldn't be a problem - but keep an eye on the GTW (gross train weight) on your car's chassis plate to make sure the combination of your car, caravan, passengers & luggage doesn't exceed it.

  3. Kerb weight is what your car weighs, whereas the maximum towing weight is the most it is capable of pulling. It is not safe to exceed this limit, and doing so would invalidate your insurance.

    From a safety point of view, your trailer's maximum laden weight should not exceed your car's kerb weight, even if the maximum towing figure suggests that it could pull more
