  1. I'm too sleepy to cope with the math.

I'll address the other part.  Most persons think in terms of what THEY are, in today's time. If you are born in Italy, your nationality is Italian.  Born in US, nationality is American.

    BUT... here is the catch

You are talking about genealogy, which is about ancestry and where they came from. This is heritage.. not present nationality.  It does not 'make' you Italian.  You DO get to claim Italian heritage.

Your heritage is 1/8th of EACH grandparent.  You need to know each one.. you take the fractions and add them.. if 4 of the 8 are Italian, that 4/8th "reduces" to 1/2.

You also can come to grandparents, but then you must have 4 of those, to add up.  If they are 1/2 of anything, then you figure back to the earlier generation.

I said I would stay off the math, and I lied.  Bad me.

  2. I think you are 50/50, but I am not completely sure. I only think that though because you have two grandparents that are Italian, and two that are Peruvian. I don't think it matters that that Italians married the Peruvians, so it wouldn't be75/25. No, I think all 4 grandparents should be considered equally. Of course, who am I to know? I could be completely wrong, but that's my opinion!! Also, your friend is wrong for sure. Of course you are Italian! Not completely, but you have some Italian in you. I thought you were 50% of each! Well, hope I helped! ♥

  3. Everyone has 8 great-grandparents.  If one of them is 100% Italian, then that makes you 1/8th or 12.5% of that.  Since you have 2 great grandparents that are 100% Italian, then you add 1/8th + 1/8th (or 12.5% + 12.5%) making you 1/4 or 25% Italian.  Same thing for the Peruvian.  You are 25% of that as well.  But that only accounts for 4 of your great-grandparents, and only 50% of what you are.  Your other 50% would be a 1/8th combination of what your other 4 great-grandparents are which could change these percentages depending on what they have in them.  If any of the other 4 have any Italian, then your percentage of Italian goes up.  This is really simple math fractions.

  4. I can't believe only one person picked up that there's not enough information. You are at least 25% Italian and at least 25% peruvian with 50% undetermined from the information given.  Being Italian means you identify with the Italian culture. But if you have any Italian ancestors you DO have Italian HERITAGE. Your friend may be right or wrong depending on their meaning.

  5. 50/50 defo

  6. You are 25% pure Italian and 25% pure Peruvian and 50% mixed.

It doesn't have to make sense.

If each of your parents are 50% each, then you are half of that, 25%.

You are lucky that you know what you are... I don't.

  7. it depends on who is more and less recessive, caucasains are the most recessive than all the other ethnicities, so it depends on which of the 2 are more recessive. If your parents were asian and caucasian then you would look more asian then caucasian or have more asian blood in u. if your mother was African and father Italian then you would definitely be black.

if your mother was African and father peruvian then you would definitely be black, black is not recessive at all, its dominent.

Peruvian is less recessive than caucasian therefore you are more peruvian, it is not 50/50. the others are wrong about it being 50/50.

it has to do with genetics and genes. you are definitely more peruvian than italian for sure.

  8. You are 50/50!

  9. if the man your moms grandmothers husband is %100 Peruvian then its

50/50 that would count as both italian and peruvian

it would be 25/75 if 3 of the 4 people are italian or vice versa for peruvian

  10. Well, both of you're parents are 50/50, so that would make you 50/50.

Congratulations, you are Italian and Peruvian (very exotic!).
