If my bf has been sentenced already to 50 days and prop 36 , why is there still a parole hold on him?

  1. There can be a multitude of reasons, but the most obvious that comes to mind is he did something that he went to court for and received a 50 day sentence while on parole. This would constitute a new case ( arrest and conviction).

    Being on parole has rules (sanctions) that a parolee must follow, One of the sanctions is to obey all laws. By being arrested and receiving a sentence, this causes a VOP (Violation of Parole ) order to be filed.

    He will now serve the 50 days he was sentenced to and upon completion, he will then be held for a parole violation hearing. Possible sanctions as a result of the VOP would be full reinstatement of the original sentence and return to prison.
