Question:

If my budgies run from me should I leave them be?

I was just wondering if I should leave my budgies alone and they will open up or if I should try to feed them treats and keep trying again and again within short intervals. I don't want to annoy them. It is weird because they were really good a couple of days ago and then one of them flew away and me and the yellow one had some bonding time and it was being really good with me, but then the next morning the landlord found her and brought her back to me. I put her in the cage right at that moment and then a few hours later let them out to play together in my house. They played around for a long time and had fun exploring stuff, so I put them back in their cage, but suddenly today they are acting scared of me and won't come to me or anything. I put my finger infront and the blue one just stands there and shakes and the yellow one runs away. THE YELLOW ONE, we used to be buds. So I was just wondering, please, any advice?

  1. I would start from the very beginning again.  I would give them time, then  I would give them treats for a couple of days.  Then I would give them the treat with my hand.  You get the idea.

    Also,

It would be easier to get them used to you again if their wings were clipped.

  2. for now leave them be,

but in future give it lots of love and attention.

if it still acts weird it might be sick?

  3. What it probably is, is that your landlord most likely just grabbed the blue budgie. The blue budgie is going to be nervous that you'll do it too (most likely). If the two birds are buddies, then the yellow budgie might be a little nervous because his buddy is nervous. I have budgies of my own, they won't let me pet them. You just need to get them to trust you, no big!

  4. leave 'em be, friend. there's plenty more fish in the sea. homy's are like women, there's always another one around the corner.

  5. if you want your parakeets to be your "bud" then play and hang around them. don't leave the two, it isn't that hard to bond with a bird.

  6. I don't have an answer, but I love the title of your question!

Maybe your budgies are just having an off-day or maybe your landlord switched budgies on you or something
