  1. Just divide the cost of a gallon by 45

  2. That depends how much the petrol costs and how many miles per gallon your car does in reality. The car manufacturer may say your car can do 45 mpg, but this can vary a lot depending on how you drive. Driving slower uses means more mpg, and fast motorway driving means you'll get less mpg.

  3. If you're using your vehicle in connection with a business, HM Revenue & Customs allows you to claim 40p per mile.

  4. 80p per mile thats what my girlfriend claims now due to the high price of fuel

  5. If you don't get an annual car allowance, you can claim back 40p per mile - uk government rates.

it doesn't matter if your car does 10 MPG or 200 MPG, 40p is the limit.

    most companies honour this value.

If you get a car allowance each year, the rate drops to 16p because all you need reimbersement for is petrol, you've already been paid for car/ tax/ insurance/ maintenance

  6. Depends who you  are claiming from and what their mileage allowance is.

  7. According to IRS rules for 2008, they changed it mid year (July 1).

It was 50.5 cents per mile up to June 30.

For the rest of the year it will be 58.5 cents per mile.

At least the IRS is being a little more generous than the oil companies.

    Go figure...
