  1. Not from my experience. I have AAA and I had the same problem. I had to transfer the vehicle to my mom's name.

  2. Only the owner may purchase coverage for the vehicle.  Insurable interest.  If you sister owns part of the car that would not be an issue.  You can look into multiproducts.  Sometimes it cost less to have 2 policies that it does to have 1.   Talk to your local agent.  Good Luck

  3. The name on the title, registration, and insurance all have to match.

  4. Im an agent who represents multiple companies. Each company has their own underwriting procedures and laws. Some will insure you - others won't. I own a vehicle which is insured through my dad's policy (to get all the discounts) and Farmers insures it. But Allstate refused to insure it in that same situation. So it varies between each different company and agent. Some agents dont ask.

  5. the person who is titled on the car has to insure it as you have to have insurable interest.  so you either have to change the title to your sisters name OR she can add the car to her policy and YOU to her policy also as a NAMED insured, NOT just a driver.  don't try to get it under her policy without you on it because if you have an accident the insurance company WILL find out and CAN deny the claim.

  6. If you are the main driver of this car, it's garaged at your home, and you're the owner...then you have to have the insurance. The only way your sister could get a policy was if she was the main driver and kept the car at her house. She would have you listed as the owner.

Why is your insurance so high?

  7. You sister can ask the car insurance agent to add your name to her policy. Then both of you allow to use the same car.

  8. Yes, but when she list you as a driver her overall insurance will go sky high and she could get canceled.

  9. Your sister has to have an insurable interest in the car.  Because she's related to you is not enough.  Now, you can transfer part ownership over to her and then she can insure the car.  The insurance company is going to want to know who the driver will  be.  If you knowingly decieve the insurance company and you have a wreck, you may run the risk of them cancelling the policy back to inception date leaving you uninsured.........
