I just put a post saying my cat pee'd in front of me. She has always pee'd on the carpet and used her litter box. I thought since I put her litter box in the bathroom and I give her treats when she uses her box that she wasn't going to pee on the carpet anymore.

I don't have a vet yet because I haven't found one that doesn't push drugs and expensive treatments on them. How much does a visit run? I'm worried I'm going to run into problems since her shots aren't up to date and I don't believe in giving her those shots (I've done a lot of research so don't say I'm neglectful) . What should I do?

  1. theres no such thing as a cat person

    half person/half cat

  2. Cats will squat like they have to pee, but nothing will come out. Or even worse, blood will come out. They may or may not drink. Basically watch their urine samples and how much comes out or doesnt come out. (as well as WHAT comes out). Thats usually the dead give away.

Also, they will pee in random places if they cant reach the litter box in time. They also may pee in random places to try to tell u something.

Yes, there is such a thing as cat people. I am a cat person, and so is the asker of this question. It's someone who deeply knows and cares about cats. I'm like obsessed with cats.

  3. If you're noticing that your cat is going to the litter box often or not even making it to the litter box it may be a sign of a UTI. A veterinarian will be able to extract a sterile sample from the cat by a simple procedure called a cystocentisis (placing a needle into the bladder through the abdominal wall - relatively painless believe it or not). The urine can be tested for crystals (which when there are enough of them turn into bladder stones) and bacteria (which cause UTI). If your cat indeed has a UTI you will need antibiotics to help her.

On the note of your vet being upset because she is not up to date on her vaccines that is something you should obviously think about doing, but if you choose not to vaccinate your cat that is up to you.  I live in Ontario Canada and here is is the law to have your cats and dogs up-to-date on their Rabies vaccines ONLY.

  4. I have had cats for over 20 years, and would not EVER consider owning a dog (the archetype for a dog is male, cats are definitely female and are perfect beings.)

Please find a vet that you trust and get your cat in immediately.  It may

cost you up to a few hundred dollars but is well worth it.  She may need a small amount of medicine to help her get over the urinary infection you believe she has.  If you had a painful urinary infection what would you do to get over it?  Sometimes a little bit of traditional medicine can be truly beneficial.
