dan that doesn't make much sense, thay can't be completely irrelevant to one another. otherwise what's the point of reading the lines on the snellen vision chart. reading those lines determines your perscription and by those lines they can determine your field of vision.

  1. -5.75 would be considered extremely near-sighted... I was -3.75 with astigmatism and was considered 20/300..  (as in 'I can't see the giant E in an eye chart)

I had Lasik done, and now I'm 20/15....

    D.

  2. But Dan is right.

You most likely see 20/20 with your glasses or contacts on , but there is no way to tell be looking at the prescription, what your visual acuity is without them.

It isn't the eyechart that determines what power you need.

The Dr. would have that in his files. If you really need to know, you could call them and ask. He is the only one who could know.

  3. shes not extremely nearsighted, shes moderatley nearsighted

anyways dan is absolutley right your prescription cannot be measured in VA cause what really counts is how well you see with corrective lenses

you could be considered legally blind even with a low prescription lets say -1D and your vision cannot be corrected/improved more than 20/200 "with" glasses or contacts

  4. Your prescription and your vision are two different things. Thus it cannot be determined by just the prescription.
