If my ear is draining during an ear infection, does that mean it could be getting better?

I believe I had swimmers ear that turned into an infection. Well after 4 or so days my ear has begun finally draining. It's clear with a hint of yellow sometimes. The pressure and pain come in streaks, but I am hoping that this means it's better. Any ideas?

I really can't afford to go to a doctor for prescriptions, so I'm hoping dearly that my ear is getting better.

gets worse before it gets better. it's the healing process. you'll know the difference.

(it took two eye infections for me to get rid of my cyst for good...using only salt solution. huh.)
