  1. it depends on the college you're applying to. You're EFC gets sent to the colleges you put down on your FAFSA and they determine how much they should give you

  2. The only form of aid that can be directly predicted from your EFC score is the amount of Pell Grant that you would qualify for.

If you register as a full-time student at your school (12 or more credit hours each semester), you will be eligible for a Pell Grant in the amount of $981. That award will be sent directly to your school and credited to your account in two equal payments of $490.50, one for the Fall semester and one for the Spring.

An EFC of 3973 may qualify you for additional forms of need-based assistance, and it may also qualify you for the maximum subsidized Stafford loan offer. The largest possible subsidized Stafford loan for this year is $3500, which can be supplemented with an additional $2000 unsubsidized Stafford loan.

Now that your school's financial aid office has your EFC score, they will put together an aid offer letter that they'll send to you. The letter will show you what forms of aid you are eligible for - and what amounts.

I hope this helped - good luck to you.
