If my effective date of my health insurance with Anthem is September 1st 2007, doesthat mean that termination?

date, when the coverage ends, is usually sept 1st 2008? That is, if it is not renewed by my job.

  1. No.  The contracts between Blue Cross companies (Anthem in California) and employers generally run January - December.  The effective date is the date that you were added (probably mid-contract) to a plan that your employer probably already had.


  2. Some employer groups have pans set up on a contract year that does not run January - December, however most do renew annually on January 1st.  If you contact the customer service number, they should be able to advise what the renewal date of your employer's plan is.  Also, you should have been provided a summary of plan benefits by your employer and that should include the date range that the plan is in effect.
