If my hdtv has an audio out does that mean there is a video out? theres a video in but not out?

im trying to record via video capture and i cannot find a video out on my element hdtv

  1. Most of the HDTV's I've seen do NOT have a video out.  The Audio out may be at a fixed line level or may be variable with the volume control.

    Generally, your input source to your HDTV will also have alternate outputs.   For example.. if you have satellite system, your receiver may have outputs for HMDI, Component or even just plain 'composite' outputs.  That would be you best way to direct a video source someone else or in addition to your HDTV receiver.

    DO NOT use Y cables for trying to split video.  You will be sorely dissapointed in the results of that.
