If my home burned burned down and the insurance company pays to rebuild?

it, could i get upgrades to the new house, such as new granite countertops, r new windows on the front of the house where there was none before?

  1. You can upgrade whatever you want but the extra cost over and above what you originally had is your expense. The insurance company will pay you and any mortgage company you may have for what you had, not what you want.  

    The purpose of the insurance policy is to put you back to where you were, not to put you in a better position than you were.

    your policy is for 'appraised value ' or 'replacement value' .

    both very different animals.

    as for up grades - figure on local lottery as ur best bet.

    sounds like u maynot get  enough to pay mortgage.

    do get a new copy of ur insurance and have it explained in 8th grade english not insurance legaless.
