If I was in the shower and my house caught on fire (my bathroom has no windows) and the fire was downstairs so i couldnt get out of the house. Could I get back in the shower, wet some towels and put them at the bathroom door to keep the smoke out (until the door burnt down) and use the shower head to spray the fire until i could be saved? Could this really work?

Only serious answers please! This is a question for my 9 year old daughter!

  1. If there are no windows and you're already at the point that the door is burning down, while you could try to use the water to put out the flames, in my opinion, you most likely would be overcome by smoke inhalation as the oxygen in the room would be used up and smoke from the rest of the house poured in.

If the fire is downstairs, don't go to the bathroom, go to the nearest window or other exit.  Make a fire safety plan now and practice it (have drills) every so often so you would know what to do in the event of a real fire.

  2. mabe it can search it on google.com

i think it would work. go try it!

  3. the best thing to do is don't panic, wetting of the towels or any other cloth enough that can cover your whole body are the only way to save your life, don't put them on your bath room door and don't wait till the fire goes up to your bathroom. There are more chances of survival while the fire is still downstairs coz u can still figure out which way to get out. Just don't panic!

  4. The wet towels would not be able to keep the poisonous gas out and you would die of smoke inhalation.

  5. I don't know, but I've wondered before if jumping in the shower would save me.

  6. You would probably be better off wetting those towels, and using them to quickly get out. Otherwise your life is depending on help, which is never dependable. If the fire reached upstairs, and burned down door, then your house would be engulfed, then nonone has a way in or out. Ive seen a 9yr old die from smoke, and its something I cant forget. Trust me, one inhalation of smoke, and all your thinking about is fresh air. It hurts breathing in, and you cough like crazy.
