If my house is worth £300,000 now, but was worth £85,000 in 1991, what band should it be in?

same as 1991, a band can only change once the house has been sold on again

The same band as it was in 1991. Up to now the bands don't change when house prices rise. So if you sell it someone has got a bargain.

If you want to know what band 300k is look at your next rates bill, all the bands are there.

it will tell u on yr council tax bill which band ur in. houses havent been re-banded since 1991 . there is a website where u can check which band yr neighbours are in so u can see if yrs is correct for the same type of property - an extension can put u in the next band . i cant remember the website but u could try googling it.

The council tax band is determined by the value of the house in a certain year.  My house's band is determined by its value in 1991 I think.  I don't know when they will reevaluate, but it's nothing to dowith its current value.
