  1. how could she do that??? a person is not allowed to get any credit until they are 18

  2. a child prior to age 18 should have no credit history if anything shows up on your credit report have it removed

  3. First, talk to you mom.  If she made this mess, the least she could do is help you clean it up!

She is a grown woman, so she should be working with you on making your credit whole.

Second, you can show the credit bureaus that you were under 18 when these debts were originated and thus they are not valid.  You might want to send them a copy of your driver's license so they can verify your age at the time of the debts' origination.

  4. Not easy. Some of the creditors  will have  have mom charged with identity theft.  Start by writing to creditors owed, include copy of birth certificate to prove you were underage and did not run up the debt.

  5. SUE HER.

  6. How could she do that anyway? Credit cannot be extended to someone under the age of 18. In the event that your mother opened any accounts and the creditor was not diligent in their processing to notice the age discrepancy then it's not your problem. Get a copy of your credit report. Download a dispute letter from the credit bureau's website www.equifax.com and dispute any account that was opened and or applied for before you were 18. Anything that was opened after you were 18 but without your consent is considered fraud and also must be removed.

I would put a fraud alert on your credit file so that your mom can't help herselfl to it.
