  1. It is the owners responsibilty to trim the tree. If you do it and kill the tree you could be responsible. I would ask him to do it in a letter, and if he refuses, you should send him another letter that states you will cut your side because of the reasons you stated. I would get a pro to do it, because of the power lines. If you only concern is the power lines, call the power company.

  2. I think the company that owns the wires. Try calling them and see if they'll come cut them down. Also you can call the city (code enforcement, maybe) to find out whether he or you are responsible for cutting them. You also might ask him to split the cost. Good luck. Don't wait until the lines come down.

  3. If the tree is on his side then it is his responsibility to keep it trimmed.  However, if the branches are destroying your lines then I believe you are allowed to cut away whatever is damaging your property.  Or go tell the guy to clean it up a little, since it's his property.

  4. I had a branch from a tree laying directy on my power line, called the company and they came and took care of it, no questions asked.

  5. the parts of the tree on your side of the property line are yours to cut. you can ask him to trim them.

you can also call the power company and ask if they trim around lines at no cost when on private property.

it's ultimatly a civil matter. just talk nicely to your neighbor. he might not notice it being a hazzard.

call the non emergency # for your local police for the laws about trimming trees over a property line. or stop in in person to talk to an officer

  6. You can trim or remove any branches that are on your side of the property line.

  7. Call your utility company.........it's their duty to take care of those problems so no one is injured or killed..........stay out of the lines and trees yourself until resolved. This one is not something to mess with...........good luck!

  8. If I were you, I would talk to the electric company about your situation and ask their advice. However, before removing any of the branches, I would talk to my neighbor.

  9. call ur electric company and let them know the branches are there, its dangerous. I think if the branches are on ur property then its ur responsibility to cut them, but I'm not sure if the laws are diff. in diff. places....

  10. just hire someone to chop it down.  thats what my parents did.  acutaully they talked to my neighbors and then my neighbors hired the person

  11. Go next door and talk to them about it and see what they think. Around here where I live we would have to contact the power company and ask them to come and look and see if they can trim any of the branches due to it being on their power lines. There should not be a fee for that. After they trim if you still are not happy with the results just ask next door if they mind you trimming the tree on your side.
