  1. You wont be able to leave the UK at check in if you have less than 6 months on your passport.  You must renew it before you go.  You can go to a passport office and renew it in 1 day otherwise it can take over 2 weeks to renew.

  2. You would not be able to get past check out.

  3. I think that you are supposed to have at least 6 months on your passpost before it expires to be able to go abroad.

  4. You can't.  You'll need to renew your passport before you leave the country.

    Happy travels!

  5. you have to go get it renewed or you wont be able to return and thats the rule. hope i helped!!! :)

  6. There are a number of misconceptions in some of the other answers to this question:

    1. The rule about having to have 6 months' validity left on the passport when you leave the country only applies when travelling to SOME countries, and is decided upon by the country you're travelling to, not by the UK. Most particularly, it does NOT apply to travel within the EU.

    2. Of course you can renew your passport outside the UK, at the local British consulate, rather than having to have it renewed in the UK - how else would the 6 million UK citizens who live permanently abroad renew if they couldn't? It may well cost more than normal renewals in the UK to do this. The normal cost for a 10-year passport is £72 for a renewal in 2-4 weeks, but going to the passport office for a 1-day renewal may cost twice as much.

    3. Most importantly, get your passport renewed BEFORE you go on holiday. If you have less than 9 months left on your existing passport when you renew, it will be added to the 10 years' validity of your new passport.

  7. You can renew by going to a british embassy.

They renew it at vast expense, usually.

  8. You are not allowed to get your passport renwed abroad. You have to get your passport in your own country. It doesn't matter if your passport is in another state than your's, it is just that your passport has to comply to your country's code. Plus, you just have to be a resident of a country to get your pass port renewed there.

  9. Do something to get yourself deported.

  10. Renew it before u go on holiday explaining on the form that u will be abroad when it expires and therefore are renewing it earlier.

  11. I see you live in Limousin in France!

So are you French English American or what?

More importantly where do you want to travel to?

If you are French (a European) and want to travel somewhere in Europe in theory you don’t actually need a passport.

You can travel on an identity card.

I think the 6 months left on a passport is an American law, as I do know I need that long on mine when I travel from England to the USA.

I’m pretty sure they won’t let you out of England on a passport that expires before you are due to return,  to anywhere you need one that is .

As yet no one can answer your question; we need to know your nationality and where you intend to travel to.

  12. they usually won't let you out of the country unless you have at least 6 months remaining on your passport

  13. WHY WORRY ITS GOT TO BE BETTER THERE ?

  14. Well you can renew it super-quick if prepared to loiter in London while they do it. Get hold of the passport office or go through their excellent web site. Between you and me though, it depends how you're coming back in. I strongly suspect no-one will even notice, since I went abroad on the car ferry last year and came back too, on an expired passport. Shhhh. Even if they do notice I doubt whether they will string you up. Happy holiday!
