If my passport runs out while i am overseas what happens when i return.?

I think it may be a requirement that your passport not

be within 6 months of expiration when you leave.

If it expires while you are away, and they notice it

when you try to cross borders (including returning home),

they could deny you boarding and make you go to a

consulate or embassy to get a new one.

Or they might overlook it.

I wouldn't tempt fate and make sure the passport

has plenty of time before expiration.
