  1. If Comcast has installed a battery backup, a regular 'landline' phone will work. If you are using a 'cordless' phone, it will NOT work....

  2. No, The modem must stay powered for you to have phone service. If you buy the battery back up for your modem then you will still have phone service.

  3. Actually comcast is a cable company. what that means is that you will have digital phone. Not regular. When you receive the modem from Comcast there's a phone module built into that device. Now depending on which one you were provided there should be at least a 4 hour battery in instances of power outages. Standard battery these days are 12. This is of course with the assumption that no cable lines went out, and your comcast branch office is still functioning. If you go past your 12 hours of battery though, no home phone/land line.

  4. Yes.  Assuming Comcast's  Power is not out also.

  5. To add on to the other answer, it also depends on what type of phone you have. If you have the kind of phone that needs electricity in order to function, it will not work. If your phones just connects straight to the phone jack then it should work assuming comcast's electricity's is not out as well. Your phone line has nothing to do with the electricity.
