  1. I am in a county in Florida and we withdrew our daughter from an Umbrella school because she wanted to participate in Swim Team and JR ROTC. They said it was a new policy this year, something to do with schools recruiting home schoolers. We had a great coach that let us know about it and help us do all the paperwork so she could participate. Best bet is to check with your local school system.

  2. Depends on where you live. You'd have to contact the school district or public school in question. Of course, there are probably plenty of extracurricular activities that aren't tied to a school that he could also participate in.

  3. It depends. The umbrella school may have sports and activities of their own, or the public scools in your district may be required to allow homeschoolers to participate, but regardless, your son can still participate in homeschool group and co-op activities (google '<your area> homeschool groups") and all the countless activities in the commmunity (google "<your area> Parks and Recreation")
