If my speaker on my television is blown, can I hook up external speakers to fix this problem?

  1. One small thing you need to consider, the RCA audio output jacks are not amplified signals to drive any speaker.  They are Line Outputs to drive an amplifier and then drive speakers.  If you hookup speakers to any Red or White RCA jack on the back of most TV's, I can almost guarantee that you will not get any sound from your speakers.  Go ahead and try.  If you can switch your internal audio amplifier from the internal speakers to some external jacks coming from the audio amplifier output, then you should be good to go.

    Update:  Yes, but you are still feeding the TV tuner which is what we are trying to avoid.  Try feeding the TVOUT signal from the satellite rcvr. to the VCR RF input.


  2. Assuming it's your speakers that are blown and not the connections, you should be able to.

  3. Of course! First disable built-in speakers on your TV, switch to external. This could be done from the menu or from the back panel, depending on your TV. Then connect  the speakers with RCA cables and you should be done!
