If my t.v dosent have HDMI output, where should i connect my ps3? video 1,2 or 3, s-video 1, DVI etc..

Component cables are made up of three separate rca type cables usually  colour coded red green and blue just to make it easy to correctly hook up. If there is a red and white cable bundled with them as well then that would be for the left and right audio.Does your tv have a DVI input? If so you can use an adapter attached to an HDMI cable. Cost is about $25 and it would go at the end of the HDMI at your tv end. Make sure you get the right one because there are two different ones. Or you can get a cable that is HDMI on the ps3 side and DVI on your tv side. The DVI input is the same as HDMI just without audio.You would then use a digital optical cable hooked from the ps3 to your receiver's digital input to get audio.                                                   IT IS HDMI INPUTS YOU NEED ON YOUR TV NOT OUTPUTS.

Your best option is going to be using an hdmi cable with and hdmi-to-dvi adapter.  This will ensure that your video quality will be completely digital, so less conversion of the image will take place.  Use the red, white audio cables to pass the soud to the tv.

Agree the best connection is to use the HDMI to DVI cable and hook up the audio to your reciever via optical cable.  This way you get the picture in all it's digital glory and the sound will also be digital but you won't be able to take advantage of the new lossless audio, unless your reciever has HDMI capablities, then I would hook up the PS3 to the reciever via an HDMI cable and from the reciever to the TV with the HDMI to DVI cable.

You will be able to get lossless audio for the PS3 Bluray movies and a pure digital signal.  Component cables (red, blue and green) only transmit video and would be the other alternative.
