  1. you can claim it on your insurance if you have full coverage for that particular vehicle, because then any driver will fall under that policy.  But, I would call the other drivers insurance first.  That way your premiums won't go up (which if you claim on your insurance it will happen, whether its your fault or not).

  2. She should be covered by your insurance regardless of whether she is named on the policy.

Always notify your insurance company of an accident regardless of fault.

They will make sure the other driver's insurance company doesn't try to s***w you.

  3. u just let the other person's insurance know, because sometimes they dont let their own ins know if it was their fault

  4. If you are in a no fault state you need to notify your insurance company.  If you are not, then you need to work with the other insurance company directly.  However, if the other insurance company gives you a hassle then you could file the claim under your own policy and allow it to go through the subrogation process.  But this could be an issue since your wife isn't on the policy.  Is she excluded?  Or did you just not want to have her on it? Insurance follows the car first so whichever insurance company covered the car is the one that would handle things if you file it with your own company.

Why isn't your wife on your policy?  She needs to be listed on your policy as well as any other drivers in your household who have access to your vehicles.  Your rates will probably decrease especially if you are young and going from single to married.

  5. In any accident both insurance companies should be made aware.  Your insurance company's legal department is there to handle the dealings with their insurance company.  Even if you're wife is found 100% innocent of the accident, you'll need to notify your insurance company or you can get screwed.

If you fail to notify your insurance company, more than likely the other persons insurance company will try to cheat you out of what's owed to you.  Let the legal department that you pay for every month get the best for you.

Most policies have an "uninsured motorist" clause that should cover your wife as the driver.  But if it's your car, please report it.

  6. Yes if its over a certain amount of damage and there was a police report made. They also help get the other partys ins.co. to pay for damages.

  7. Yes. Let your insurance know. The other party can still sue you even though it was not your fault.

  8. If your wife was driving your vehicle which is insured, then yes, you should always let your carrier know of any accident you or your vehicle is involved in.

File a claim with the other company as well. If they do not cover the damages you can proceed through your own policy. However, your company would have to investigate and determine if your wife qualifies for coverage since she is not a listed driver.

  9. Yes let the hospital billing dept know as well, so that you can give the guilty partie's insurance info, so that you don't have to cover the bill, they usually will request a police report, be prepared.

  10. Law are different in each state.  But it would in your best interest to inform you insurance company.  Your insurance will go after the other parties insurance for you.  They may even pay you for the damages, then get reimbursed by the other parties insurance.  And they will have a better chance of getting the money then you by yourself, and they will explain the laws in your state to you as well.

  11. always call and report...if they don't get to your company no harm done...

  12. Normally your company would be of help to you, even if it was the other partys fault (if you have rental coverage, etc.) however, if your wife isnt on the policy Im not sure if I would even call them.

No matter what, if you have a police report stating its the other partys fault, you should be good to go, no problem!!
