  1. Well the witch of the black forest does not have to be flip summoned to activate its effect. The effect if that "When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, select 1 monster with a DEF of 1500 or less from your Deck, show it to your opponent, and add it to your hand. Then shuffle your Deck." that does not say anywhere that it needs to be flipped summoned. There are cards that elimnate effects. But the mystic swordsman doesn't elimanate the witch's effect. An example of a card that the swordsman would be useful against is man eater bug.

  2. No, in order for Witch of the Black Forest's effect to activate, it must be flip summoned or at least, flipped face-up, Mystic Swordsman eliminates that condition, if Witch of the Black Forest is sent directly to the graveyard without being flipped face-up at all, its effect will not activate.

  3. Precisely what Ace said.

With witch of the black forest (or sangan), its effect still applies. cause of what it says on the card

it dosent matter how it gets from the field to the graveyard, as long as it does so, the effect will apply.

there is a alternate to stopping witch's effect, like removing it from play or even using morphing jar 2 to send it to the deck, not the graveyard (same with neo-spacian grand mole, which sends it back to the hand, not deck ^^)
