If natural and green is the way to go should I feel guilty about using tortoise shell guitar pick?

Why do they sound so good? It is after all a natural and renewable resource that leaves less of a carbon foot print that plastic guitar picks.

I know some people with little talent say that "a tortoise shell pick makes them sound better", but if they were really talented they could pick with the whole tortoise!

Besides, "tortoise shell" means more about the colour than the composition nowadays.
