If it is true that US or American women aren't wearing pantyhose anymore.

Then why do I have to go to three stores to find enough of my color, size, and brand to last for a month?

Who is buying them all, 5' 6" men who weigh 135 - 155 Pounds?

  1. Either because the demand for them is going down (sadly) or all the cross dressers are getting to the store before you, which is just scary.  Try ordering the ones you like direct from the manufacturer or there's always ebay.  Good luck!

  2. I doubt anyone wears them anymore.

And if you can't find them - it's probably because no one makes them anymore either.

  3. order them if u cant find them

  4. In my opinion, Hanes Brands are cutting their own throats by excessive cost cutting, cultural ignorance, and frankly, negative thinking. Like healthcare and nearly every other industry, the bean counters have taken Hanes Brands hostage. Pantyhose sales continue to go down year after year. Their solution? Cut production so severely that the small percentage of loyal L’eggs and Hanes pantyhose buyers can’t get the pantyhose that they WANT and NEED, when they want and need them!

The “Little L’eggs” brand tights have almost disappeared. You can’t find size 12-16 or size 9-12. To make matters worse, they have removed the Lycra from Little L’eggs. They are now 100% Nylon, made in China. No more silky feeling for the little girls, no more nice fit. If a little girl wants to wear L’eggs brand, just like mommy’s big girl pantyhose brand, they have to wear tights that feel like sandpaper, bag and sag, and slide down and droop. When they enter the later years of grammar school, they won’t be able to wear Little L’eggs anymore because only the smaller sizes are available. In short, they have taken a good hosiery product for little girls and turned it into c**p. You won’t get girls to wear tights and pantyhose when grow older when you ruin their products like this.

Hanes spends loads of money for the endorsement of Michael Jordan and other celebrities for their Hanes underwear. The bean counters probably said “diversify”. But sales of Hanes underwear remain stagnant. Meanwhile, for the fall 2006 fashion season, every (and I mean EVERY) major fashion magazine in the USA declared black tights in, in no uncertain terms. The tights shown in these magazines were worn with the most open-toed, strappiest shoes you can imagine. When the fashion world ran out of ideas and brought back tights, Hanes Brands were asleep at the switch. Here was their chance to capture the 14-34 year olds, who rarely wear ANY kind of full length hosiery. They could have advertised their superior fitting and feeling Lycra microfiber tights to this hitherto lost market of young females. Instead, they kept pushing Michael Jordan in his underwear.

They ignore Sheer Energy, the flag ship of L'eggs, and also ignore Hanes brands like Silk Reflections. They have decided that pantyhose are dying, so let them die, I guess. The biggest group of females under the age of 35 who wear pantyhose are 9-13 year old girls. These girls are too small to wear “Size A” Hanes or L’eggs. Where are the Little L’eggs pantyhose? Gone, along with their Little L’eggs Lycra tights in bigger sizes. Another missed opportunity.

Remember when fishnet pantyhose went mainstream in the late 1990’s? Well, Hanes missed the boat on that one, too. I didn’t see any L’eggs fishnets until TWO years after the trend was announced in fashion magazines. By then it was too late.

I sometimes think that Hanes is deliberately trying to get their hosiery sales to do go down.

  5. I think that there are more of us wearing them then we think!  Not sure if you are buying a specialty brand or one more basic but if you want to try and order on-line I have had a lot of good luck with www.alexblake.com

Great selection of all types of hosiery!

    Good luck!

  6. Because no one wears them anymore, so they don't waste money making them.
