  1. Since they are not conductors, they make good heat and electricity insulators, which keeps you, me and everyone else safe from burns and electric shocks. An example of this is rubber.

    Nonmetals, like cotton and wool, serve well as clothes. Why? Because they don't conduct heat (i.e. they don't easily become hot, and don't easily become cold), they are good at keeping off the heat when it's hot, and keeping us safe from cold when it's cold. This means nonmetals such as clay and brick work well as building materials, for the same reason.

    "Carbon” can be used to to make a strong

    and light wight substance known as carbon-fiber.

    “Nitrogen” has many industrial applications including explosives.

    “Phosphorus” is used in toothpaste.

    And “selenium” is used in glass manufacturing.
