Question:

If oil is made from dinosaurs, why can't we make it from dead people? Dead people are a huge wasted resource.

If it takes a million years (is that an exact figure?), we either need to find a catalyst or we'd just better get started!

  1. haha, that gave me a good laugh... Just think about it, we have a never ending fuel resource in dead people! Just think about what dead people can do to lower gas prices.

  2. how about we just find a different way to pollute the planet

  3. Because it takes aeons before the decomposed remains turn into oil.

  4. I think our time can be much better vested in finding a renewable clean source of energy. Declining oil resources will force us to find something else, and hopefully something more environmentally and economically friendly. Your question is a waste of time and resources.

  5. That's where Soylent Green comes from.

  6. because the only dead human remains out there are considered history, and the ones we don't care for aren't old enough to have been made oil yet

  7. Oil is not made from dinosaurs. It is made from marine organisms, over millions of years.

You probably use as much fuel, one way or another, in a day as your body could ever yield.

  8. i (unfortunately) agree with the second part- however an alternative resource would be a much better plan- how long you gonna wait- dinosaurs have been dead millions of years..

  9. The process takes millions of years. Dead people, or animal, buried underground, will deay and be part of the process to become oil in a million year.

  10. We could probably do it if we put dead bodies of people and animals under enough pressure (we're talking lots and lots of pressure) but turning them into fossil fuel will take more energy than we'll get out by burning them.  Fossil fuels are useful now because the Earth did all the work for us over millions of years; if we do it ourselves, it's actually a waste of resources.  That's the laws of thermodynamics for you.
