What does that say about the trapped person? Is it possible they want to get out but don't know how? Do they like the condition they are in? Does the "slave master/mistress" always realize the control he/she has?

What insight can y'all give me?

  1. darwins theory..it is what it is

  2. Well, let's see...

...many people are slaves of the products I sell.

What does that say about the trapped person? It says they are in a position of vulnerability, and, like quicksand, it's a situation that's often very difficult to escape.

Is it possible they want to get out but don't know how? Some do.  Others like being enslaved. Some really struggle to break free, but like all the useless "smoking cessation" programs out there, it's difficult to figure out the correct means of escape.

Do they like the condition they are in? Some do. Others would really like to quit. But I won't let them. =)

Does the "slave master/mistress" always realize the control he/she has? Well, being the Marlboro Man, I definitely like the control I have.  I mean, since I have millions of customers who are hopelessly addicted, I can raise prices without a large drop in sales. And since all the other cigarette brands are just so much less cool, I really don't have to worry about them switching to another brand.

Good question.  And I must commend you for your proper use of the phrase "y'all." People who aren't from our part of the country really don't get it, do they?

    Yee-Hah!

    The Marlboro Man

  3. get marshall rosenberg's "nonviolent communication"

because it takes 2 to tango and being trapped is not necessary.

and no, the person who seems to be in control often does not realize how much the other person feels that they are sacrificing themselves

and also the person who is trapped often does not realize how much control they have over their captor.  it's complicated but not a happy way to live.
