I'm trying to convince a class that I'm in to use reusable bags versus plastic bags but I want some statistics to convince them of this. I would like to know the impact if I got them to switch.

Thanks!

  1. Couldn't plastic bags be reused too?

  2. Just one person would have no effect, millions would.I hate plastic bags. I always request paper bags.

  3. Then I wouldn't have any garbage bags for my bathroom garbage can

  4. Just Googling about this for you, the average American uses 1000 plastic bags a year. In addition to the energy to make and transport and collect the bags before and after they are used, there's enough petroleum in those 1000 bags to drive the average car 71 miles. A class of 25 using reusable bags would allow that car to go 1775 miles.

I found this, too, which you could/should have found for yourself.
