  1. In the UK i think you can do this AFTER 12 months.

When you sign up to sky digital you are signing a contract that says in the first 12 months you must remain connected to your phone line and the equipment still belongs to sky.

But, as soon as 12 months end the equipment is officially yours, so you can do what you want with it.

Bear in mind though, if you have normal sky and upgrade to sky plus, you get new equipment which means you also sign a new contract which then re-start the 12 months.

If you decided to end the contract at the end of the contract you should still get the free channels as far as i'm aware.

Although, you would probably be better off with Freesat.

  2. Actually offically, no. It is does not seem right, does it. I thnk you have to pay a cable company something like $7 a month for the local channels + PBS or something. Go the the web site of our local cable company and look at their plans then call them and they will tell you. If they have not turned off the signals yet, they will be doing it sometime this year. Maybe Dish Or DirectTV has a small plan just for that too.
