I know that certain peer-to-peer networks are more secure and hidden from ISP and government tracking than others. Since LimeWire is one of the most popular P2P clients, are its users at greater risk when downloading illegally?

  1. more susceptible to viruses.

  2. maybe I'm just naive but I don't worry about it at all.  I mean consider the percentage of people who have been prosecuted out of all the people who have ever pirated music and other copyrighted materials.  The number is staggeringly small, and at least in the early days of legal action in the matter, they were only going after people who had a collection of SHARED pirated media significantly larger than the average possessed by most people who pirate.

So I say, no need to worry no matter what p2p network you use.  By the way, it is illegal for the government to track your communications over the internet unless there is a warrant issued.  I dont know about ISP's but I doubt they care what your doing with the internet as long as you're paying them.

  3. Other services are so hard to install and get running. But Flickr music just works and keep on going on and on, try it http://www.flickrmusic.com

  4. no you won't i do it all the time don't worry you won't get reacked!

  5. you just take your chances thats all. u probably will be safe as there are millions of people downloading all the time

  6. Judging by the patterns of lawsuits being filed, you are really only likely to get busted if you are UPLOADING, or otherwise providing music to others.

Downloading is harder for them to win in court. So just don't share music, and for now, you are probably not going to end up in court.

Don't take that as legal advice though. You're still breaking the law and you absolutely can get sued for it.

  7. Getting caught no, getting infected ??

Not when you stay away from those fake (dummy) files.

The small files you see when doing a search are much too small to be a song or movie and therefore iit is very likely, that those small files are fake files.

Start your download with files larger than 2500/3000kb

Make sure your anti virus is up to date, because you know as well as I do, nothing is completely save at the internet.

Here you can install limewire pro for free

  8. It matters what you are downloading. Most ISPs will not check your usage unless your using tons of their broadband. Run virus software and so forth to check that you didnt download any programs that could track you.

  9. there is a possibility but i think the chances are slim

  10. DON'T WORRY DUDE.

THIS IS NOT UR FAULT. U R NOT DOIN WRONG.
