If one wanted to purchase Tennis balls in bulk, for how many months should one purchase? How long do they last

Someone told me today that the problem with bulk purchase of Tennis balls is that after a few months, if the balls are not taken out, the pressure on the balls gets reduced and they get worn out. How long are they likely to last?

well it depends on what brand and how long you keep them for because after 4 months they should be flat or even sooner

If you buy them from new they are sealed in the tin with an air-tight seal so they don't loose any pressure in the balls. You can buy as many as you want. Usually a 4 ball tin lasts about 8 sets before they become too soft.

12 months, as long as they won't get wet. After that , they will still be usable, the quality though won't be 100% coz' some of the air will diminish & rubber will become brittle. I always buy 100 balls for practice & tournament games every 3 months.

It is true that the pressure in the container will slowly drop.  And after they aren't pressureized any more, they will start to "die".  It's because the canister and the ball are both porous, which allows the air pressure in both to equalize with the ambient air pressure.  

How long will a pressureized can last? It depends.  The other day, I pulled out a can that was a year old, and it still had some pressure in it.  The balls were obviously old, but still had enough bounce to use.  I've also opened a can that was about 2 years old, and the balls were unusable.  But a 3 month old can is still perfectly fresh upon opening.

With my experiences, you can probably be safe buying for 6 months.  You can also repressureize them, but that's only a temporary fix.
