  2. For many it is a lack of diversions that leads to the reproduction, but the existence of diversions does not prevent reproduction. That leads me to think that there is no diversion powerful enough to halt reproduction. When a duty is pleasurable then it doesn't feel like a duty does it?

    Seriously though (ahem), I would say it's because your major premise, that it's our duty to reproduce, is false.  In addition, who says all our diversions are useless?  Many if not most of them do serve one function or another, even if it's not obvious to us.
