Do you think people would emphasize with each other better or have more reason to fear each other? Why or why not?

  1. It would make it easier to go to the grocery store at night, that's for sure.

  2. I think you meant empathize...Anyways, to answer your question, I think that knowing people's darkest secrets will create more shame, anger, and mistrust rather than empathy. Yes, there might be some heinous deeds committed against a person that that person may want to hide from others for fear of being pitied or whatnot. That may incite some sympathy and we may be able to empathize with why that person is the way he/she is now. Overall, however, I feel like most of our secrets are about things we've done to others or ourselves. There's a reason for it being a dark secret. It's usually not something to be proud of. The majority of humans are very selfish. We do things to satisfy our desires. If people are able to see just how selfish and cruel we can be, it's going to generate a lot of shock and mistrust.

I may sound very cynical but I think that some good may also come out of this. If all of our darkness is brought out to light, then we would be a lot more careful about how we do things. We'll start caring and respecting each other and our environment more. There will be less darkness in the world and even though we may or may not get all of our desires met; I think ultimately, we'll be more at peace with ourselves.

  3. emphasize?

    pick a different word.
